How to install SCE step by step.

#2230 2 years, 5 months ago
How to in stall SCE.

1. Go here and download ModManager.
stockcarevolution.com/index.php?option=c...nc=fileinfo&id=3

2. Install and run ModManager. If you are running Windows7 right click on the ModManager icon and select Run As Administrator.

3. Click install tab in ModManager, then click download and install SCE.

4. Run SCE. Set your Video settings. Enter unlock code if needed.

5. Click player settings. Click delete lower right to delete SCE new player, so we can make yours.

6. Enter your player name. ESRL requires Car # 1st then 1st name, then last name.
Example: 45_Mike_Koon This is also how you will enter your Teamspeak nickname.
Fill in remaining info.

7. Choose COT 1.5, Choose 88 car for now, accept helmet, nation flag.

8. Click choose vehicle. Click show all. Choose make you want and #, then click buy car.
Click big E upper right.

9. Click game settings. Then orange dot left for controls. To the right, click throttle and set it.
Then brake, then steer left then right. All the other rates and stuff is personal preference.

10. Display and audio is up to you. I'd turn music to 0 in audio.

11. Run Mod Manager again. Under main tab, make sure rfactor folder is pointed to where SCE is installed.
If it is ok, if not browse and point it there.

12. Click updates tab, click check for updates, then install them.

13. If you have a car painted use the upload tab. Otherwise click download.
Leave Leagues as ESRL, mod all, click download. This could take about 30min or more
to get everyones car or truck.

You are now ready to turn laps online and offline.
Check our forums and ask other drivers for wheel setting info to help you run better.

Under Windows7 it's recommended to install SCE in the C:\Program Files(x86)\StockCarEvolution2011 folder.

When SCE2011 comes out there will be a SCE ModManager 2011 which will detect if you're running XP, Vista, or Windows7 and put the files in the correct place.

As far as the server connection erroring out you need to give more information.
How many times have you tried connecting ?
Which OS are you running ?
What is the error message ?
Does it start downloading for a while then get an error ?
Is it resuming the download ?

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I am running Windows 7 X64 Home Pro
It just gives me the error, It doesnt start downloading no text appears in the console area. I have tried running it as an administrator. I have .Net Frameworks 2.0 through 4.0 installed. I can think of much else that could cause the problem. It looked self explanitory.

I tried turning off my firewall and Symantec, that didnt change anything.

Ok one thing I didnt see mentioned. For windows 7 64 bit OS people. Right click the SCE Manager, select compatibility tab. Then choose run as Admin, and Windows XP Sp3. That should fix it just fine.

Now I am able to dl the SCE install.

Re:How to install SCE step by step.

#2295 2 years, 5 months ago
Ok if that worked that's good info to know. It was tested under Win7 64bit and didn't need run as Admin or XPsp3 compatibility. MM is actually a 64bit app under Win7.

Sounds like it may be a folder security issue that MM is running from.

In Explorer select the folder that MM is installed in and click on Properties then Security. Make sure you're login ID has full access to the folder MM is installed in.

But hey, if what you did fixed it then it won't hurt to leave it the way it is.

Glad it's running...

Windows7 Users:

Windows7 has two locations for software installations called c:\Program Files(x86) and c:\Program Files. The one named c:\Program Files(x86) is for 32 bit software installations and the other is for 64 bit. Now listen carefully, it DOESN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERANCE. I used to work for Microsoft for quite a few years and if I was still there I would have punched the moron who did this in WIndows7. All it did was cause confusion and nothing else. Whew that felt better...lol

So technically rFactor/SCE should be installed into the c:\Program Files(x86)\SCE2011 folder. The new SCEModManager2011 will detect Windows7 and Vista and put it in this location. But as I mentioned earlier, it DOESN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERANCE.

I just joined up here and i got the same error messege. I run Win XP SP3 and it just stopped d/loading, so i took a punt and ticked the compatability mode box and changed it from Win 95 to Win 2000. Is that correct?? Havnt tested the game yet but i got a messege saying something like some files are missing and game might not work properly. Any help will be much appreciated. Thx

No. If you are running under Windows7 you don't need any compaibility mode but you may need to Run It As Administrator. See the earlier post in this thread about how to do this.

There is no 2008 version. If you're are downloading and installing using SCEModManager 3.0 you will get SCE 2010.

Are you running Windows XP, Vista, or 7 ?
Did the problem happen on multiple days ?
Is this the first time running SCEModManager on this computer with this operating system ?
When did you download the SCEModManager that you are trying to run ?

If you could, please open the UPDATE.INI file in the SCEMM folder and paste the IP address. It should end with 162:6000.
